As a midwesterner currently living on an island in the pacific, what I miss most is the changing of seasons. Here in Hawai‘i the weather is largely unchanging, and living in a constant state of a “perfect” season is something to which I am unaccustomed. When the commissioning of this piece was first discussed, I was missing the autumn season back home in Indiana. Consequently, the character of this piece is meant to illustrate the cool breezes, wistful atmosphere, and excitement I generally experience during this time of year.
